If I was a betting man, and I am, I would put the odds at 8/1 right now. Not impossible, but not likely.

Yeah....given the likely plethora of qualified applicants that will live/reside in & near(er) the delivery area of interest....I'd say it's probably a bit of a long shot.

You need to get a year in. Then your looking 90 to 100k and not killing yourself to do it. For job hopping part 6 months at last company. Why not SNI get your last 3 months in. Then you only have 2 companies......

Personally I would call sni and try to do tankers. Ask about staying out a month and tell them you want to move to Houston in three months. You would be training in tankers. They have a good reputation for that training. That foundation would serve you for ever. Hazmat tanker experience is hard to get.

You would be on a quicker path to getting a gas hauling job. Guys claim 100 to 150k a year to do gas. That money is probably 2 years out. But Gemini will put you near a 100k. With sni tankers you would have the skill set. Right now your meeting bare requirements for that future high paying job.

But the job. OTR. Yeah it's you entire life. Meaning. In a month you live in a truck for 24 days+/-. Get 4 off? Even if your local. It's 60 to 70 hours a week plus commute. 168 hours a week close to half is just work and commute. Accountants dont do that.

You made some very good points & observations there.

Unfortunately -- because of some earlier posts/commentary he made about midwestern heat & humidity -- the OP really needs to spend the rest of his driving career west of Denver (where the humidity is much less -- & thus, the heat is less oppressive).

He certainly doesn't belong anywhere along or near the Gulf Coast (for example: Houston).

I can't imagine what it would be like for him back east -- while doing pickups &/or deliveries in a hazmat suit (especially during the warmer months).... o_O

I quit a hazmat job. Delivering acid 100 miles west of Dallas in August. Gumby suit and no eye wash/ safety shower. 105 or 110F..... toooooo much. I asked "do I have to unload it?" They said "no" I got to the site and had to unload it.

Maybe only northern New Mexico for OP. No humidity, higher altitude, clean air.

Hogan is also on that account, here in the east anyhow. You might like how they pay, $385 per day. No mileage pay, no hourly pay, a simple day rate.
