It's that time when listed carriers put out their 10-K reports and sum it all up for the last year and the 4th quarter. ODFL just had its conference call and it's a barn burner.

ODFL is the country's 5th largest and here's an analysis of ODFL and how it grew to 5th largest: http://marketrealist.com/analysis/s...s/?featured_post=234523&featured_chart=235256
According to another article I read this morning, trucking represents 5% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product), consumes 52 billion gallons of diesel and dwarfs rail transportation at 84% of all transportation compared with just 6% for rail. To my mind, ODFL represents the best in the industry--well paid drivers and 99% on-time delivery across a national network.

Their emplyment criteria are strict, and guarded. A team was very nearly not hired for failing to disclose an animal strike. Another, (user on here) had the door slammed in their faces and refused any explanation of why, after repeated attempts. I suspect bigotry played a part, and even my attempts at closure were shut down.
After more than 7 years, we've never met, or heard from - anybody higher than terminal level. Friday willl be our last day, and I'll look back on it as no more than just another job.
Don't get me wrong - they're a good company to work for, their compensation is more than fair, and we've rode the company stock in the 401k from $17/share to over $70. But they're just another company - among many others.double yellow, Skydivedavec, Shaggy and 1 other person Thank this. -

ODFL top financial guy, J. Wes Frye says weight of shipments are up some, but that's a long-term positive, short term hill to cross.
