Ok from my understanding when you are loading or unloading product at the customer this is considered "On Duty". I'm just curious to know if it take 2-3 hours to get loaded or unloaded are you guys really staying on duty the whole time? Wouldn't that really drain your clock?

With an elog it doesnt matter where you put the line, you are still on duty until your 14 is up unless you show 8 hours in the sleeper in that 14. Once your clock starts, the only thing that can stop it is an 8 hr sleeper birth.

    What???
On elog if you log sleeper berth while loading, you don't waste your 70 hours, however, the 14 hour window is still there.
    Elogs are coming

I'll do a Hilary on this.

I did not know, i did not do it, nor have i ever, nor will i ever. I follow the appropriate status that the FMCSA regulations clearly stipulate under the HOS guidelines.

Your 14 is still there but even if you log off duty it is still counting down your 14. Thats how it is with Omnitracs anyway. I have sit there and watched it many times at shippers and receivers. I never show more than 15-30 minutes on duty for loading or unloading but I still loose all the hours I sit there-no matter if I am showing off duty. It takes from your 14 and your 70.

If I am physically doing the unloading I stay on line 4. If they do it off duty or sleeper berth.

LOL you really cant with Omnitracs. If your clock starts at 5 am and you are still driving at 710 pm, you will be getting a lot of bells and whistles and a message telling you that you are violating your hos, even if you have 5 hours off duty between those two times.

If you are off duty, it does not affect your 70 hr. clock. If it is, you need to call your log dept. or safety or whoever and get that fixed.
