I think you misunderstood "hit with a ticket". The op, from context, means his mother got a ticket for speeding. There was no accident. All your questions become irrelevant. It doesn't matter if she had Jake or not, whether she was going downhill or not. She claimed she was going 12 over, she got written for 16 over, which is a serious violation, and too many, I think 2, will get a dusqualification.

Agreed. Many of my thoughts towards the problem does become no good when its a big enough ticket. And yes agreed on the misunderstanding of the original post as well. Most of the time people get a ticket not someone else like mom.

Some states arrest for certain speeds over regardless of what it is for example 90 plus. Usually enough points are assessed so that you lose the license as well.

Half tempted to edit the post and throw away the extraneous crap, but decided it's best to leave it there as a example as to how it's easy to misunderstand a OP Topic.
