For now I am in a loaner truck while mine is in shop. It's a 2012 freightliner and while it is still allowing to make money one issue is this onguard collision alert system. First off is this specific to just freightliners? My company truck that I was in initially a 2014 KW had the wingman system installed. Never had an issue. This onguard though is giving me fits. I can be driving down the road and it will pop up an error with beep that "radar is blocked or align". Now it hasn't done anything stupid like slamming on the brakes yet but it will turn off the cruise. Bad enough that it is governed to 62 and because it's a loaner they won't turn it up to 65 at least. I have found by shutting down the truck it will reset the onguard and I will get cruise back for about 30 minutes tops. Other than pulling over every time this does this, is there a fix for this or do I just grin and bear it and tell them to fix it for the next driver when I get my truck back.
Onguard system

The front sonar may be defective or cracked or have some huge bugs splattered on it. Probably nothing you can do as a driver to correct it if it's not something as simple as the sonar being loose, or improperly aimed, or otherwise impaired.

Turn on the cruise and hit the set button right away. At least three times and it will set the cruise. Gotta be fast on it. Works on all the cascadia I been in

Mine does that.
I can go for a month or two without this issue.
I just had it 4 days in a row.
It's just a junk system.
Once it says Radar Blocked I have not found a way to get it to work again.
Only if you turn off the truck for a few minutes. (to reset the system). -
i just got out of a 13 FL. 200k miles i put on that truck. if it had it. i never had a problem. never had one alarm go off so i don't think that truck had anything for safety.
the 16 FL i'm in now. gives me alarms for curves and brakes when i hit them cattle gaurds at the end of the freeway exits or what not. abs activated or slow speed down 3 mph.
by the time that thing beeps. and i've figured out why it's beeping. i'm already laying over. kind of a pointless sytem seems like to me. -
I've had issues with mine too. One time I was bobtailing home in the left lane, a car in the right lane slowed to turn and it locked my brakes and set an alarm. Another time I was hauling on a clear road with the cruise set and it locked up. They serviced it and it was fine for a while but now its setting the same codes again. I'm a former computer guy. There is such a thing as too much technology.

On guard sucks. I find that if I just fiddle with the process of setting the cruise, it will work. I'll push the jake brake button then try to set it. Then disengage the jakes and reset it. This sometimes works.
-
If you turn cruise on and off 3 times the cruise will work again but not predictive cruise. It'll be just like the on guard wasn't there regular cruise.

Nice will try it. As far as blocked I checked the array and there is one of those plastic protectors over it(I believe same material they make the license plate covers out the ones designed to block speed radar) any way just your regular average bug corpses and the unit itself is firmly mounted. Hopefully my truck will be done this week and I can let the maintenance guys mess with this.

Out of all the times it has displayed blocked it may have been blocked 2 to 3 times, and that was in the Winter Snow/Ice.
