If it were me, I'd check the wheel seals for leaks, check for play in the axles and inspect the bearings in the rears first. Much cheaper than replacing rear ends with 1.3 million.

As I was getting my level 1 this year the scale lady was happy I had elog and was saying it will be much easier for them in the future to do Log compliance checks since there will be less trucks without them.. the impression I got is pre 99 log checks will ramp up more defeating some of the benifits of paper due to loss time in the scale house

I disagree. They will probably leave us alone, not wanting to bother with paper interpretation.

This!!! That crap should be regulated. We rarely book loads in advance anymore for this very reason. I hate to cancel loads. The S&R's hold my truck hostage way too often. I can make calls and try like hell to expedite things, but usually to no avail. Rarely do I ever see detention pay. S&R's should not be allowed to affect the earning potential of the carriers in such a negative way. Two hours should be the maximum a carrier can be held without compensating said carrier. Regulate that and ELD's would matter less. JMO.
