Hey everyone, I’m still in truck driving school and have my permit and was wondering what your opinions are for XPO. I don’t have any endorsements at this time but I will be getting them in the near future. I do have kids so I will need a local route so I’m with them at night.
Can anyone tell me what the starting pay rate is for a new guy? (I live in Michigan)

    How’s the benefits?

How much and often are the pay raises?

Is it a good company or should I stay away from them? Thank you

How about Central Transport, Universal Logistics, Gordon Food?

Yikes! XPO is different from the other LTL companies. They expect EVERY DRIVER to do EVERY JOB. You will work the dock. You will drive P&D days one week and then linehaul overnight the next week. It will take a while before you have enough seniority to get a day route. They also have the OnlyFans option (driver facing cameras).

If insurance and a day job are your key criteria for a driving job YRC is a better fit. You can start out as a P&D driver with some dockwork here and there but never see a linehaul overnight run. Teamster scale and teamster health insurance 100% paid for you and your family.

That stinks. I start there in May. It'll be a change of pace and a pay cut that I am welcoming. I don't mind doing some work with a pallet jack or working the dock and doing linehaul.

I was at Sygma (sysco) for 13 years. Foodservice is back breaking and this will be cake walk to that I'm hoping.
