I work at swift and I enjoy it. No company is right for everybody. There is a saying in politics: someone will not cross the street to vote for you but someone will walk a mile to vote against you. It's kinda the same thing.

They train rookies, so there are the inevitable rookie mistakes and problems backing into docks, etc. But Schneider doesn't seem to have quite as bad a reputation as other training companies, and their training is supposedly very good. I've heard they run a pretty tight ship, so they probably have very little tolerance for people who can't drive.

I had to take an uber once and the guy that was driving told me he used to be a truck driver and I asked which company he said swift aND so I asked him how was his experience and he replied "working for swift was 100% hell everything was there" he then said "after one year I quit the whole industry because of them they taught me hate for everything trucking and that was my experience" lol that was a horror story in my opinion for swift lol

SNI has a pretty decent training program for new hires. 3 weeks of very comprehensive training for new grads, followed by mentorship with a seasoned driver and very close supervision as needed. The tolerance level is very low for any misconduct and the trucks are equipped to steer drivers in the right direction as far driving habits go. Safety is pushed ad nauseam. They are a mega with slow governed trucks but I'd have to say a good place to start.
I can't say much about Swift except that the largest carrier is going to have many bad apples.

The megas all run on the same business model and have the same philosophy. Sure their are differences but they have far more in common then different.

Yep. A truck driver recommended I get my cdl with either swift or england. Swift has a terminal one hour from my house. England not so much. Guess who I went with?

I thrive in the mega environment where I can just blend in. Some people need long deep one on one conversations with the owners to feel like they belong. To me that's the difference between the mega and the family co.

Get your cdl and find a company. If you don't like that company 100s of others will have you in orientation the following week.
