The main fly ash supplier I pick up from apparently got squealed on for their broken down, non dust collection site.

I picked up there the other day and OSHA was there. I had to wear my helmet hat, a OSHA approved mask, etc...

Here’s a funny for you, however.

I’m finished getting loaded and getting ready to pull out from the silo and, by some miracle, I just catch a glimpse of a helmet hat on my right front corner.

I drive a 389 Pete. If you’re not familiar, they have a pretty small windshield to begin with. Then, there’s the strip that goes down the middle of the two piece windshield. Then, there’s the hood mirror.

Point being, I released my breaks and was letting out the clutch when another employee yelled. I stopped and, suddenly, this OSHA dude pops out from in front of my truck.

He was literally leaning up against the hood, of a running truck, with the driver in the seat.

Maybe I wrong, but that just doesn’t seem like the smartest thing you could do, especially if you’re a OSHA (aka safety pro) employee.

Found a guy snoozing under my running truck in Edmonton one very cold night. Alcohol involved
More than once I’d seen derelicts congregate and pass the jug in front of running trucks to stay warm
Could have been their offspring in front of your truck

I used to pick up fly ash in Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee. It was set up for the driver to do everything. No one else was around. No witnesses if you screwed up. First time I loaded there after the automated system, made a big mess and even dumped some on my head. Headed for the nearest truck stop and stayed in the shower a long time trying to get that stuff out of my hair. Wish I'd had a hat or helmet on then.

Some of those regulators are so bent on trying to find someone making a mistake they follow you like a shadow, when I was a line man decades ago I learned to bring a few extra tools to drop when they stood looking up. All they want to do is justify the socialist job they do and put that old hand in your pocket.
