Does anyone know of what companies have a complete and comprehensive training program? Something more than showing you how to shift, use the QUALCOMM and then solo you out.

Millis Transfer. They have schools in Oh, Ga, Wi, Tx. Haul a lot of beer.

C R England have an excellent school and is very comprehensive, based in Utah, but they have other regional schools throughout the US. I went to their school in Spartanburg, SC That's how I got going 17 yrs ago as a rookie. Then when I got my CDL-A I conveniently moved on, as many do, but good luck.

Please do not go to England. Just read the horror threads here.Shaggy, blairandgretchen and joseph1135 Thank this.

Roehl has a good reputation for training from everything I've heard. Doesn't sound like a horrible place to start out either.
Almost went with them, but ended up moving to another part of the country. -
Put you location on your profile so we know the hiring area you live in.
There's some excellent trucking company training programs:
Millis Transfer
Prime
MCT
Roehl
& a few others.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Millis & Prime have some of the BEST training available. Plus once you become employed by them, they pay fair wages and both have stellar equipment
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Prime's program is as real as it gets but your training is based on your trainer's ability to teach and your willingness to listen. At prime your are there for a few days to get your permit and then it's off for a month long trip with a trainer that is responsible for teaching you the fundamentals while at the same time running live loads. You will quickly gauge if you love or hate trucking OTR as you will be out there in the soup getting it in!!! You will more than likely want to strangle your trainer by the end and he will have had dreams of chocking you in your sleep. You return and get 3 chances at passing the CDL test and if you are able to get it done, it's back on the road for another 3+ months with a new trainer that you will run team with while learning the finer details on the paperwork side of trucking. This is where you will get your coast to coast driving skills in check. He drives you sleep and vice versa. Once this is done you return to get your on rig and join the ranks of rookies in the business. Looking back it was all fun. Reminded me of my day of becoming a solider. Good luck. Be safe!
mje Thanks this. -
Does Prime accept graduates from outside truck driving schools?
-
Yes they take recent CDL grads, but you still have to hit the road with a team driver for 30,000 combined miles before getting your own truck.
