You may not be understanding what I’m referring to. Is it possible the fifth wheel rails are bolted on the frame too far forward. I have driven trucks when the fifth wheel is ‘slid all the way back’ , the fifth is directly over the rear rear axle. In other words the fifth wheel is right above the back back tires.
Over weight on steers

What size fuel tanks do you have, and were they full when you scaled?
-
No it goes back to the lowest weight rating.
-
Two 110 gal tanks they’re full

Oh wow. That’s back. It could be possible. How much of a hassle would that be to have that done? Also I will add. I did scale out bobtail with the steers still being 12400
-
Take the truck back to the dealer, and ask. Not sure if fifth wheel installation is a factory, or dealer responsibility in the Volvo universe.
Grumppy Thanks this. -
I was going to anyway cause this whole situation is very sketchy to me. I’ve never seen anything like this before

I have a '22 860 with the Volvo motor. I regularly run in excess of 13,000 and my kingpin is centered directly between the tandems. Volvos are notorious for being nose heavy. Our Volvos are spec'd to run that heavy and run a heavier weight rated steer tire than the rest of the non-volvo fleet. With heavier rated tires a scale won't even look twice at you, even at Cali scales, as long as you aren't over gross.

Alley Dock, 86scotty, kylefitzy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Why would someone put a 12500 axle on a modern truck ? Unless it’s a day cab or very small bunk most are over 12000 empty regardless of brand .

I drive a single screw Pete with my 5th slid forward and typically the steer hits about 10.7-10.8K when the drive hits 20K.
