All depends on the positioning and size of the tanks but the weight-burn ratio will always be the same once it’s determined. Typically it’s roughly around 60:40 but can go either way depending on the setup.

Some trucks have a big tank way back on one side and a smaller tank on the other side way up or vice versa

I remember having a chart in my permit book getting into better detail on my tractors weight/fuel burn. If I remember right I lost about 75 pounds total weight for every 100 miles. About 25/30 pounds off the drives.

Edited: make that every 50 miles. It was almost 150 pounds total for every 100 miles. My mind is going!

Also, what I don't see mentioned, is that Florida allows 44,000 on your drive and tandem axles, so you are not overweight in that state.

Only on NON Interstate roads was the gross raised to 88,000. Interstate highways are still at 80,000. Not sure about axle limits but 44,000 doesn't seem right.

I was 880# over on my drives earlier this week. Slide the tandems forward as far as I could. 5th wheel wouldn’t slide. I was still 180# over. I had 124 miles to the next scales. It was Oregon so I could see that I was at 33,950 when I rolled across. Knowing some basic math can help.

You can go to 44k on tandems on all FL highways, as long as you don't exceed 80k...and stay under 41' bridge

Been there done that. And a long walk under I81 to get to the dot officer, walk back move the weight to correct and then wait for that green light to come on.
