Owner Ops, do you ever just take a break while out on the road?

And the comment about me being an oversized child or something, I don't find that insulting. Kids have dreams, however ill-lconcieved they are. Life hasn't been the kid into the ground yet.

If the stars and sun and moon align just right and I'm empty on a Monday or Tuesday and near enough to the casino, I will take a couple days and go throw dice around. Thursdays and Fridays are my primary load out days to be available so Monday and Tuesdays are my 'weekend'.

I definitely believe it's important to pace yourself when on the road. If I have a load delivering within a 100 or so miles of the house, I'll often take a day or 2 off, or take a 3 day weekend. If I'm picking up a load that I know will be very involved on the consignee end, I'll usually not schedule a load till the following day and just take the remainder of the off-load day for myself. Also, like an above poster mentioned, you can find freight that moves over the weekend that will give you time to relax.

Concerning your target of $500, you should be able to blow that out of the water without running too hard at all if you're smart about what company you lease on to.
