PA I76 turnpike charges by the weight?

True from Scranton to Philadelphia. Scranton to Ohio, no.

How do they determine what to charge you then when you're heading to Ohio if there are no scales?

Edit: you’ll notice scales in the road as you enter the toll boths. That’s where they get your weight from. With the few high speed ez pass sites they put in, i don’t know how they end up calculating weight. They must have scales in the road i just haven’t noticed them

 

I know. My question to the above poster was rhetorical. The scales are there. They have to be to properly determine tolls.

 

476 is way too tight in a lot of spots, never ending construction and idiot 4 wheelers flying 70-75 in the 55 zones

 

You drive over the weigh in motion axle scale. It adds up your weight. And puts you in a weight class. *If your loaded, slow down when you drive over scale. If you go to fast it has been known to put you in a higher class*
