    Good God. That's steep.

I knew it's pretty steep in my time and used it when we must, but those numbers are out of sight as far as I am concerned.

Steep enough to burn fuel over 322 and fight 80 across or down to G'burg and fight 30 across east. Fuel has to be cheaper.

Ohio to Illinois without the Toll Road is not a issue in my time. But I can tell you that those old roads, if not made bigger will have trouble with the extra traffic.

The T'Pike has to have been rebuilt two or three times by now and they keep increasing the money? You would think the whole #### thing would have been bought and paid for many times over by now.

Work for a company that pays your tolls and it doesn't matter if PA charges a doller per pound per axle per mile. If you are a company driver tolls are a non-issue. Most tolls can be paid electronically if you have a winshield transgender.

I am pretty sure you meant transponder.

I have seen some strange decorations on trucks though. I could be mistaken.

You think they’re measuring your weight at the high speed toll transponder lanes near Pittsburgh and philly? They only care about your axle count and max gvw when applying for ezpass.

Maybe they handle cash trucks differently but if they somehow charged by weight they would be bombarded continuously by people claiming they were over charged and they have no way to back up any claim a 50 year old axle scale [that is never certified] might try and assert

And yes. I’m aware their website asks for a claimed gross weight but I don’t think it ultimately matters once you put in an axle count. Go across in a car and a 2 axle uhaul trailer and see how bad you get gouged.

From Exit 2 @ the Ohio Gateway to the Delaware River Bridge the Cost for a 5 Axle Class 7 ( 80,000 pounds GVW) is:
    Cash - $283.70
    EZ Pass - $203.59
    Distance - 356 Miles
Cost Per Mile - .796 Cents Per Mile

It's been a long time since I paid a toll in Pa. I was always a company driver with a transponder. I think my last time using cash might have been around 2002. I have sit and listened to this weight v axles argument many times. I wonder what does the "toll ticket slip" say? If no mention of axles I would say it is weight only.
