For now, I am going with Schneider. Reason being is that I have been off the road for over 12 years. Never thought I would go back over the road, but things change. I let my CDL go so now I have to go through everything all over again. cannot afford to go back to school so I'm going with Schneider to help me out in that area. I know it's low pay, but it's better then where I am now. I know after a couple of years I can move on to higher pastures but having never pulled dry van before, I might like it. In trucking, it's not all about the money and yes, that does play a huge role. But if I end up liking where I end up, I won't be in a hurry to move on. I much rather pull refer, only because of the longer hauls and you get to go out west more. So for right now, that's my decision.
Funny, I moved south from Wisconsin and drove for PTI for a year based of Mobile. A strange issue came up with their Mobile parking location so I moved on. I didn't have to train in Wisconsin, they let me do a driving test in Albany, GA. Maybe since I had experience. I'll probably be a lot of Georgia Pacific freight or taking random paper products to Walmart / Sam's Clubs. Maybe a random paper recycler or beverage load.
I'm stuck with paper. My yard jockey job is at Kimberly Clark warehouse completely full of Scott Tissue lol.
When I used to bring a load of waste cardboard or paper to the paper mill, thought it interesting that some of those PTI trailers had the smaller wheels with the lower floor level. Some of those paper rolls they would load were pretty darn big. Looked awfully heavy.
