Every time I look for a job,I realize how many horrible places there are in this country. Rarely get stuck anywhere with a view...how depressing...Denver is photogenic but I prefer making my deliveries in the dead of night and getting out of dodge... i
I was OTR reefer for about half of last year, then dedicated on a cross-regional reefer triangle from PA to GA to IL. I do not know anything about the Wal Mart account, sorry.
What's the average length of haul? Is the sliding pay scale a smart choice? Drop and hook percentage?
I am *NOW* an o/o under Shaffer, and was on a cross-regional account that was not really OTR for half a year before that. However, while I was OTR, I was rolling about 900 to 1000 miles per load, with drop and hook % in the 25-50% range. As for sliding pay scale, I am not sure what you are referring to. There are a couple Crete/Shaffer threads in the forums which are populated by current company drivers. At this point, my knowledge of typical company driver operational reality is becoming less and less relevant.
Been busting my butt. Last 3 runs have been TN > CA > IL > CA. I am delivering to CA tonight. Have been running 22 hour days. My last 34 was messed up a bit by getting service on the truck. Replaced all 4 batteries (two had bad cells, and they were all the same age) and had a warrantee repair done on a recurring minor oil leak on the passenger side of the block. However, you are right. I need to update again over there, and do so more regularly in the future.
sledding scale is for regional. Well at least northeast regional on Crete side. I only know about it because it was one that was offered to me
