I realize there are other Pepsi threads but I appreciate replies if possible:
Welp, I just got an e-mail inviting me to interview either this Friday, or next Friday in the Cranston plant location for relief driver FT position. It gives you the option to pick a date and time. Only issue is that it is about 1 1/2hrs from my housebut they are allowing people to apply who have only there CDL A permit which is myself. I have a Class B already, but would like the A. I've read that the job is rough and I in shape sure, if you consider round a shape, lol..
So, I'm not really sure what to expect obviously, but would be open to listening to what they have to say, and going into it with a very open mind. Clean MVR too.
My question is how would I be simultaneously working for Pepsi, but training to obtain the Class A? And/or has anyone got any information on the training process. Ultimately, I'd like to go OTR but there's no set timetable on that per se. So, could I go OTR for Pepsi themselves? Any information would be appreciated.

Relief drivers just take over routes when the drivers goes on vacation or sick. Other than that, they get paid as a helper and help other drivers if there''s no route.
It's a physical job, unloading one by one 12packs, 2 litter bottles and so on. Stack 2 litter 10 high on a dolly and bumping them up or down a flight of stairs. And you better not drop any of them because they can be a huge mess to clean. 10-20 stops a day about 12-16 hour days.
What's worst for you is driving almost 2 hours to work, working at least 12 hours. Driving back another 2 hours, and only sleeping for 6 hours just to wake up to drive another 2. -

Anyways, I am just wondering that if we liked one another, and I was offered a shot at it, if it would be worth it with the commute and all to get the Class A. It would save me the $5K for the license and training for it, but I am just not sure if I could handle the commute + the job especially as a newbie. Ugh -

Well you're in luck Op, I have two interviews with Pepsi tomorrow for the relief driver..(both in different plants)
I'll let you know how it goes and what to expect..
As far as pay I think it starts out at $17.45 then bumps up when you get your own route..
Good luck to you! -
I worked for Pepsi. It's a trap. They want to draft you into the Cola Wars.
Bob Dobalina Thanks this.
