Name company, name apps they require you to use.

Personally, id just hand them the keys and tell them to f-off if i were you.

2nd option if for inconcievable reasons you MUST work there.

Buy candy bar phone, put current number in it. Tell them you broke your phone and this is the replacement. Since you primarily use it for work, and they wont be footing the bill, 10$ a month txt and calls and a 30$ phone is all they get.

Get a 2nd phone line, wipe smartphone to factory reset. use new phone line for your smartphone. NEVER give them this number. NEVER install any of their bs on it.

But seriously, leave the company and make it LOUDLY known that kind of behaviour is why.

It's always good to put the names of these companies out there so that future drivers that come on here will have an idea of what they're getting into. I don't really agree with protecting the identity of any company.

When I finally get a new job at a better company I’m going to be sure to let everyone know who they are. I’m happy to hear this isn’t common practice for companies to do this to drivers and I’m going to just have to get a second phone for my next job. Thanks for all the replies.

No, that is not acceptable. There are ways to fix this, and there have already been great suggestions given here.

If you do what @skallagrime suggested and buy a candy bar or flip phone, you have to be careful because most also have the ability to track you.

The only dumb phone I know of that is built in a way to prevent this is the F1 Pro from Sunbeam Wireless. They are relatively expensive at $329 but built well and available with more or fewer features depending on what you want. I've had the previous model (which went for $195) for almost 3 years and have been using it for all my phone calls. That is the only number my company has. I might buy a new one since the battery life on mine is pretty bad, like hard to make it an entire day if I talk on it a lot.

If you have a Pixel 5a or newer, you can easily install GrapheneOS which would solve this problem as well. I have a second phone (just upgraded to the Pixel 7a from the 4a) that I run GrapheneOS on. The security is better than all other alternative operating systems, and it's much easier to install than the others as well.

The missus thinks I'm crazy for being so particular about my privacy, but she is one who has like 4,000 notifications on her Apple phone whenever I look at it. The only perfect privacy phone is no phone, and the next best is the Sunbeam Wireless phone. Smart phones are convenient and necessary for work right now, but as soon as I retire, it's going in the landfill.

My friends and family think I'm paranoid, but the ones who say that are also the ones who constantly complain about targeted ads popping up after they mention something in a phone conversation. Why make it easy for these evil companies?

Do you run their elog on your personal phone?

Don’t be concerned with “job hopping” unless you’re prone to running into #### and getting tickets. You won’t ruin your trucking career. I went through about four companies my first year and I’m still standing.

How do you know it is the company you work for? What did you do to verify that?

    Android or apple phones?

Have a lot of questions about this.

Why wait? Even if they fire you for talking #### about them on a public forum, that only means the angels are looking out for you

They told us, “gotcha style”, after the fact. Two of the women who started with me were livid about it, both left. They said we all agreed to being tracked when we accessed the website, just by visiting it, which we were forced to do to apply.

The difference here is that they attached the browser fingerprint/cookies to our names so that tracked us individually.

I do not run the e logs on my phone. I did use the payroll app but no longer use it due to the tracking and surveillance.

Get a new plan and phone# and do not tell the company. Just tell company you need a raise to be able to pay the phone bill to be able to keep it on. If they want to do this commie spy tracking stuff then they need to supply you with a company owned phone.
