Wow. I haven't been to an actual receiver in many years, so I just am out of the loop regarding how it works out there in the real world.

At my job, I just get it there quickly and safely.

Walmmart, target, hime depot, tsc, amazon all penalize a carrier for delivering (or picking up) outside the window.

There are several reasons. First, just trying to manage space in the warehouse and on the lot. If we deliver Thursdays loads on Monday then they have more stuff then they know what to do with. They also don't want the carrier complaining about trailers being used as storage.

Secondly once delivery is made, the clocj starts on the PO. So if it's a net 15, and Walmart expected the load delivered on the 5th and planned on having at the stores by the 10th and sold by the 15th then they will have the cash to pay up. If we deliver on the 1st, walmart still won't be able to sell it until the 15th so now they have to pay before they've sold the goods, which hurts walmarts cash flow. I've oversimplified this quite a bit, but you get the point.

At my company, it's basically "Here. This freight is on fire. You should probably start driving fast so the flames don't reach the tractor. Good luck." Lol

Well, they didn't become a monopoly from not having a well-oiled machine, and not buying Chinese crap, and focusing on the LCDs.

I understand the to early stuff but I think calling ahead and asking if its ok to come early wouldn't hurt. Sure is nice hauling are own stuff. Our new ELD start this weekend I use my entire 14 and will see how this new system will work.
