There is soo much info given during orientation that that important info gets forgetten almost as soon as its said.

TE should hammer that fact home and maybe make it a question on the final cbt's during sqr before release to the fleet. Perhaps as a part of quarterly cbt as well.

Exactly, more then on driver touched this trailer over the last 10,000 miles and not one cared to report it. Plus I bet it's passed through an oc at least once in that time period.

Didn't have or see this kind of issue at prime. But then again they have a team in dispatch who's sole purpose is to route every trailer through a terminal every 90 days. Plus when you go into a terminal the trailer automatically gets inspected on inbound. Something I heard Schneider tried a while back at the oc's and ended up with such a huge backlog they stopped. They just couldn't keep up with the number of trailers they found needing twisted repair on inbound that the regular maintenance stuff wasn't getting done. That right there should tell you just how bad there maintenence program is here at schneider. :biggrin_25512::biggrin_25512:

And again because of that trailer I'm having to clear my board. The receiver wouldn't release an empty because they must always have 2 available. That made no sense seeing I just brought them a trailer, all they had to do was empty it then they would have 2 or just empty the other 9 sitting in the yard.

So after the looking for the trailer hunt I wasn't goingto make the pickup and the load got pulled. But hey I am welcome to bt 455 miles to get the next load.

So how did you come to be hooked to a loaded trailer with those issues?

That was the trailer the shipper preloaded.

So like in Laredo, they inspect the trailers crossing the border but they couldn't implement the same concept at other OC's?

They inspect every trailer whether it's crossing border or not. But you can't trust them. Picked up relay out of Mexico in the yard only to find a broken shaft on a brake chamber. And it had been broken for quite a while by all the rust. It even just had a PM.

Kind of. When you roll into inbound at Prime they checking tires, brakes, lights on the trailer, when the last pm was, looking for physical damage to frame, landing gear, sides, roof, they hook up a machine that checks the trailers abs, air system, and runs through all the lights again. From the time you get into the inspection bay to the time you leave it's about 15-20 minutes if nothing's wrong. IF there is something simple like lights or tires, they repair it there. If it's more then that, they call up to the trailer shop and let them know there is a loaded trailer that needs to be fixed asap and schedule the work to be done accordingly. But loaded trailers have priority over the emptys that are being worked on.

According to one of the mechanics at the Portland OC, they use to have someone at the fuel island check the trailers and try and do quick repairs, but that program lasted only a couple weeks because the backlog of repairs and number of issues found was to much for the shops to handle and keep up with all the regular maintenance they were suppose to do. Sounds to me like schneider needs to really work on getting a regular inspection program so they can stay on top of these trailers. Only way they are going to reduce the service failures because of equipment issues if they inspect these things on a more than 12 month basis.
