When I get a nail, I first squirt it with Windex, then keep squirting it until I get it out. If I get and bubbles it stays in. I have coated a screw with silicone and screwed it into the hole. Got me to a shop. Always carry a 50 air hose too.

The extra teeth looking raised rubber in the grooves are built in “stone ejectors”. They are designed to as the tire rotates to wiggle and vibrate to loosen the stones out. As you can see sometimes they don’t work.

I do stone picking sometimes but go into a gravel pit a lot. Makes it not worth it.

It’s more to check tires for nails, etc.

We used to do casing credit but now it’s not worth it either.

Tires are over 5 years old by the time they need replacing. The age limit is 5 years old for recapping.

Our dump trucks go through them quick enough to keep the tires within a few years to get casing credit but even then we don’t buy recaps anymore.

I do. Once I did it after being pulled in for an inspection. The DOT Officer said She rides motorcycles, and really appreciates that. She went easy on me. Let me fix my Trailer locking pin that wasn’t locking. I had 3 locked in. The fourth would eventually lock on its own. No written paperwork.

This thread could’ve gone down as lore for the ages. It could’ve been one of the all time masterpieces of not only the TTR, but of all bulletin board chat sites. The possibilities were endless.

But, alas, it will be swept into the dustbin of obscurity, lost without a trace in a matter of days, possibly weeks. And all because of two words:

    “Stones” and “Tires”

    sigh....
