Coming aboard. Well I'm about to join the OTR reefer ranks again. Im tentively set to start orientation Jan. 30th.
I had a hard time choosing between Magnum, Great Plains and Versatile Transport. Looking forward to the change of pace. Standing outside in 10 degree temps unloading a Pneumatic gets old.

Finally got to take some OTR runs and had a chance to "Root" around for some good food.
Took a trailer with empty pallets from Chicagoland area to Three Rivers, MI.
As I exited I80 near Three Rivers I saw a big sign for Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury, IN. It's a few short miles off of I80 East of the Elkhart water tower.

That's my kind of food! Choice was simple. Eat off the menu or Buffet.... Buffet please!
Enough food to satisfy a bear getting ready to go into hibernation. Plenty of different food choices to feed even the pickiest eater.
There's a bakery onsite for those that wish to take out extras.
I had pot roast, mashed potatoes, Lima beans, green beans, homemade yeast rolls...white and wheat, fried chicken...which was lightly breaded...Yummy! I also can't leave out the delicious piece of homemade Custard pie!
This place is a total winner! Home made Comfort food to please!
Bad news, nowhere to park a truck and trailer.
Good news they have bus parking which will accommodate a bobtail.
They do have a dirt overflow parking area but I didn't ask if they would allow truck parking there.
There's also a gas station nearby with a gravel lot that appears might possibly have truck parking.
I promise you, you don't want to pass this one up!4mer trucker, ncmickey, txtodd and 3 others Thank this.
