When I turn the key to the on position it shows a fault code "88" at one point and then just shows "N" for neutral. When I turn the truck on and its in neutral is has an "N" which alternates back and fourth with an "F". When I try to put it into drive the N changes to a 2 with the down arrow on the left of it also alternating with the "F". When its working that arrow is blinking and as my foot is on the brake pedal with all brakes released I can hear and feel the engine or transmission or whatever "activate" or whatever and then it shifts into gear. But now that little arrow to the left isn't blinking and just nothing at all is happening.
My "Tractor ABS" light is also on and I think it may have something to do with it since when its working and I hear the engine/transmission activate the tractor abs light sometimes goes away. And right now the tractor abs light just stays on and nothing activates

I do not show a code "88" in my book, so I am helpless at the moment..
Have you checked for power on the TCM? This test is critical as nothing else will work with a no/low power issue..
Could you tell me which transmission you actually have? I have seveal manuals, which I can send in PDF format if you have an email addy (PM to me)
Alternatively, get in a tech that has a PC diagnostic, may be cheaper in long run...

So the systems is flashing 88 or two number 8's. It then shows N and then flashes F.
Hum... sounds like a ground fault or broken/bad wire or failty component or a messed up cpu processing unit or a electrical/ground falt from the trailer.
I have no idea what an XY shifter is, but to me it sound like someone BS you.
If the trailer ABS is on, maybe there is a groumd falt coming from the trailer, unhook the power cord from the trailer and shut off the truck for 5 minutes and try again.
Now for fun if you go by the code 8 8 N F... it may just mean Now 8 you dubbled F###ed

and if you have one of these let me and experience this problem i am going to post the problem and tell you what can fix it..
My Truck has a Difficult time going into Neutral like if you Pull into a fuel island and stop then put it in neutral it will beep at you, Sometimes it goes into neutral and when u turn the truck back on it will beep at you like it wasnt placed into neutral (which takes upwards of 30 minutes to get it started)
It's incapable of Automatically shifting in City Traffic
what i mean is it misses Every Up shift and Down Shift just keeps Revving but never goes into Gear, you have to manually shift engine for it to work and run your RPM's at 20 in each gear for it to take the next Gear
Has problem on Take off at 4,5,6,7 gears mainly 5,6 Gears Engine Keeps Revving but Transmission never goes into gear
On the Down shift it doesn't down shift until about 7 rpm's and it SLAMS into 9th gear and Jerks the hell out of the truck like you just been rear ended
It has a problem going into R and D (1,2 gear) it just keeps flashing the number in the Display and takes 20-60 seconds or more to go into gear
IF you get it to go into Gear you press the Gas and it slips out of gear jumps 2-3 RPM's and SLAMS back into gear and Jerks the truck.. OR falls into Neutral
-Check Fuel Filter Level if over 1/2 way full drain to 2 inches from the bottom
-Drain Air tanks DAILY
-Load Test Batteries Replace any bad battery they send Confusing signals to ECM
-If Problem Persists the next thing i found out was that i a Faulty Transmission Wiring Harness and had it Replaced which cured most of the problems
-RANGE CONTROL SENSOR! is the key that will be replaced next week im driving it as is to make money till i go on hometime
I talked to a Transmission Mechanic and they told me that thing goes out alot on the Eaton Transmissions... and that you will Never Run into that problem on a Freightliner just on the Volvo's, Pete's and KW's that have the pushbutton set up Freightliner uses Smartshift and operantly they figured out how to fix that problem..

To update everyone, after a night of leaving the truck off and getting some sleep I tried it again early this morning and miraculously it shifted into gear and is working again...... for now. I'm not sure why it started working again but I 'm still getting an "F" signal so something is still F'd up, so I'll be getting this to a terminal asap.
Sounds like it was through up by a grade 6 math teach doing algebra.
X factor equallys this unknown value and Y factor equully this unknown value.
At least we know what the F value is, worthless. And the N value is your not going any where.
X+Y+88+N= F ..... looks like algebra to me and still makes no sence.
XY shifter seam to be a useless piece electronic junk attached to a transmission.
