took the words right from my mouth....yup you really need to figure out who is going to feel your needs better. Hometime, benefits and lanes u wish too run. My honest opinion for the most part were all doing the same thing out here delivering freight you have to find what makes you happy.
heck i work for a medium size refer company and stay busy and make a fair living for the effort i put forward, i even have a friend that works for swift and he made 60k last year running the intermodal local crap. you need to research the company and see f its what you want....

Given your being in GA which is a major freight lane for us I will 2nd XLS opinion of Con-Way Truckload (besides I actually work for them, and I have been treated as good as the advertisements claim). Our main freight lane run essentially from VT down to Laredo, TX so there is a higher probability of you seeing home without putting in for hometime, + when you hilite (request hometime) it will be easier to route you there.

9000ish post, wow, you are truly amazing. Me thinks you have more free time on your hands than a supertrucker should have, LOL. So your dad's a driver, that make you supertrucker. DANG, I'm a supertrucker too, my dad's a retired truck driver. Sweeeeeeeetttttt, now I can preach to everyone too, lol. :biggrin_2551:

First of all, let me make it clear that I am no Crete defender. While Crete is better than Werner, England, etc., they still suck. I worked for their reefer division Shaffer for 3 and a half years and even though I made 62k+ my last year I just couldn't handle the ######## anymore. A bunch of petty, micromanaging ######## every day.

Some think it's a great company because the money is good. They overlook the BS because they came from another coolie carrier that had the same BS for less pay. I never worked for any of the bottom feeders (Werner, England, Swift) so I had a hard time with the constant ########.

I'll probably make close to 60 this year, but I run where I want, when I want at 75mph. I go home when I want and stay there as long as I want. I will work a LOT less and sit a LOT less for my 60 than I did at Shaffer. Go out, make my money and go home. No sitting in a T/S over the weekend because some wet behind the ears load planner ###### up again.

Any company if you research them, talk to them and talk to drivers that work for them first to see if they run how you like to run.
I've driven for most of the major carriers (SNI, Swift, JBHunt) and several smaller ones. all have good and bad points. The only company I won't recommend is JBHunt.
