I thought my Prostar was a good one too, low and behold at about 210,000 the egr whatever, needed replaced, the front brake chambers blew apart plus other recall stuff.
And all during the snowstorm that hit Memphis last year, so the dealer couldn't get the parts they needed as quick as usual.
    It's coming

I understand that , and my day will happen too. In 88
I started driving day cabs , all were pretty lousy trucks , manual steering bench seats , and little to no air. The heat worked too good during the summer an sucked during the winter. I been in some pretty chitty stuff. Know what I mean ? It's why I'm not too critical without a multitude of real good reasons.

My reply was to your overall opinion that many of the breakdowns are driver caused. I have read your posts before with that kind of ########, I have heard you spew it in person. It simply isn't so. I am not speaking for ALL Poly drivers, but for drivers in general, just as you were generalizing your so called observations about crazy drivers. Tell me this, how are the following caused by driver abuse?... a/c system (3 times in 9 months), turbo, dpf replaced twice in 9 months, engine fan on 1st truck died by 275k, oil filter plugging by 10k miles after service shutting engine down, air compressor oil leak, air comparessor pumping coolant into air tanks, 3 engine fan failures on 2nd truck in 12 months, wastegate failure, turbo hose blowes, constant DPF sensor issues causing parked regen requests 2 or 3 times a DAY(shop can't figure out why), 2 oil pan gaskets(MAXXFORCE), bunk no-idle heater going bad by 200k needing rebuilt, solenoid for the dump valve bad solenoid for the 5th wheel slide release bad, fuel supply pump replaced twice in 12 months.

I am not saying 100% of Internationals are faulty...but that manufacturer has an exagerated number of unnecessary failures. Just ask Poly drivers there that were part of the company BEFORE they switched to International and see how much more reliable the previous trucks were compared to the current equipment.

You can argue all you want, but the consensus of drivers(in general, not just at Poly) that have been exposed to the Prostars have a common opinion, if issued an International, you stand a better chance of having more shop time than any other truck manufacturer. That is why the larger companies are reducing their fleet of them, simply because they cannot be depended on to get the job done.

What other on-road truck maker has had to file for financial re-organization because of their equipment warranty cost almost bankrupting them? Only International/Navistar.

As far as finances, I do this job for the best paycheck I can get. I want to run all the miles a logbook can handle. I am not out here part time just sightseeing. I want to run hard. I don't like to fiddle #### around being lazy. If I am out here, I want to roll. Perhaps you are so keen on Poly because you are like the amish farmers mule team, going thru life with blinders on. Because you live in a remote area, and need regular home time for your medical needs that other companies can't provide, you go around with blinders on. I bet if you weren't lucky enough to have a reliable truck, and the endless breakdowns caused you to miss your doctors appointments, you would be singing a different tune.

I got a maxxforce with over 400k miles, towed several times this year. Have had to do probably 20% of my miles this year in a loaner due to something wrong almost every time I get a service.

That being said I'll gross right at 62k this year. That's the best I've done so far in my career. Guess I'll have to put up with the big bad red prostar for a Lil while longer.

Yep all is true, if you come to POLY TRUCKING you will be breaking down sometimes everyday or every 100 miles. Poly does have the wrong managers and personnel in the wrong positions because someone is a friend of someone else. Its my business when I have more experience with the wrench than the whole shop. Incompetence with a capital "I". You can have cheap equipment as long as the cheap equipment is fixable by every shop in America and can stay running more than 2 weeks at a time. Cummings, Detriot's can be fixed nearly by all shade tree mechanics in America and myself. Every company has issues with the re-gen system however, this company goes out of its way to be stuck on stupid. Instead of placing a new filter on the trucks they try to rebuild one that has come off another truck, which we all know its common sense that you can only burn metal so often before it loses its integrity. The worst about is the company does not give a dam about a driver or any of its personnel it has turnover just as much for drivers as it does for its warehousing. It is like anyone other company where the offspring has taken over control turns to hell really fast. The pride is no longer there, the accountability is no longer there. I do not know how Poly got its reputation for being a good "driver's company" but it is royal #### now and they want to go to FORCED DISPATCH. For any drivers that can be hired at Walmart---- GO TO Walmart. The hiring standards are the same so if you can be hired by POLY TRUCKING you can be hired by WALMART. I have never seen anything like it Pepsi-co you are about to get a million mile driver. Even banks invest into their employees to keep them up to date. I have never seen nothing like it in all my years of being apart of the transportation industry. I really hate to say it but the pay is good but you can't make any money sitting on the side of the road. This is a company that has gave new meaning to dysfunctional retardation. That is my opine.
