Not like they can blame you for NE traffic. What is their stance on delays?

Depends on the actual cause of the delay

One reason I don't repower loads for them
is because you are required to still make the
scheduled time ..... in most cases it's too close.
One miscalculation and you the driver take the hit .
The fines for late loads are very high from what I've
    been told.

As far as application time, it depends on where you live and if they need drivers in that area. Due to their liberal home time policy, I was told that they try not to have too many drivers out of the same area, especially if they have a limited customer base there. That way there is ample freight to get you home and back on the road with minimal hassle. If they have too many drivers from one area, then a bunch choose hometime around the same time, it makes it tough if they don't have the loads to get them there on time.

You can get the new Pete's to idle. They have a auto start setup as well. They are setup with a 5 minute idle shut down which is annoying but not a big deal.

That's what I'm talking about. With a 5 min shutdown, what do you do in AZ if your apu doesn't work?

Get it to a shop. If poly says no to the shop then They will put you in a hotel for the night. I'm not sleeping in a hot truck so they would have to decide, hotels until I get back or shop.

Or set the trailer brakes and release the tractor brakes and idle away.

    28 and Knucklehead Thank this.

When I was new at Millis they had that 5 minute shut down for new drivers. On their KW's there was a way to bypass it.

I forget how. It may have been by hitting the brake pedal or something like that. I think you had to sit there and wait a few minutes til a light on dash started blinking, then you just hit the foot brake and it would keep running til you turned the key off. Those were KW's, Pete's might be different.

I think the reason wasn't to keep you from idling, but to let you leave the truck running for 5 minutes to help it cool down.

They didn't want you to shut the truck off for 5 minutes after running it. The truck cools down better at idle than it does when shut off.

    Knucklehead Thanks this.

And hope the trailer brakes are adjusted properly ... or you'll wake up with your truck in a lake, or on the train tracks.

    I don't think I'll ever get a Pete, I'm not even asking. I don't think I'm on their "happy Driver list" :)
