The entire state of Wyoming doesn't have prepass do they?None the less I've always ignored those signs unless it says open.

This is the correct answer. I took a load from Spokane to Dallas about 1.5 months ago and took 287 SB... I stopped. Others did not. I had to take my paperwork in as directed by the sign and I actually ASKED if SB had to stop because I never actually knew the answer with how much i've driven it in the past and stopped.. he said no... I was just a willful volunteer coming in like I did. Direct answer from the DOT themselves.

Would it be fair to say the sign is still up from 30+ years ago when they did weigh southbounders? I mean at some point in the past they weighed both directions-- the scale works both ways with lights on each end.

If you're on this page, I'm assuming you have the rest of the internet too, so...

    Q. Do I have to stop at all ports in the State of Wyoming?

    A. You are required to stop anytime you see a regulatory sign (black letters on a white background) instructing you to stop or an officer has directed you to stop. Pre-pass vehicles which receive an in-cab green light may continue, providing they are not hauling livestock or do not have an oversize or overweight load. Example of POE signage:

    • All commercial Vehicles
    • Transport operators
    • Livestock haulers, and
    • Deliveries into Wyoming
    http://www.whp.dot.state.wy.us/home/ports/General-Info.html

I found that quicker than it took to read just the first page of this opinionfest. @scottied67 its set up both ways since bull haulers always have to weigh.
