We are a one truck owner operator company and I am wondering if other owner operators have a portable printer for the carrier packets and rate con's? We are working with a dispatcher but starting to book our own loads and some companies carrier packets are done online n some aren't. Just wondering if you all use an app where you can write on the documents or have a printer with you in the truck. Part of me feels like we need it but than part of me is hoping there's maybe a program we can download to where it will let you fill it out on the tablet I know they have programs for you to sign documents but I don't know about filling everything else out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Scanner printer and white out a must have.

I used one. I had a 3 in one. I used transflo to send my bills in. I also found it nice to be able to print permits etc from PDF files send to me via email. I think a driver should have a working printer in today's world.

I used to have one as just as a company driver. Its suprising how often that printer would come in handy even if it was just to make copies of bol. No more stopping at a truckstop to pick up faxed permits, just get them emailed to you and print them off!

Yeah, I wouldn't be without one. They sure are handy, they're small, cheap.

I have a Cannon Pixma MG3620. Ordered it on Amazon for $40! 40 bucks... lol had it 2 days later. It’s fully wireless and has its own hotspot so you’re phone or laptop hooks right to it no matter where you’re at. It has print, copy, & scan. No fax but I have eFax for that. I don’t know how I got by without this thing. It’s tougher than nails too. It gets beat around the cab all day, pothole after pothole and still turns on by just pressin that little button! It’s great

I bought HP's smallest printer, $59 at Wally World. I usually use email for all the contracts and carrier packets. I use FoxIt for all my PDF files, to fill out and send back. I use the printer when I need to print out to pick up at airports or If broker has a special BOL they need to use. I use CamScanner to take picture of paperwork and create PDF. Yes get a printer, If you only use it once it will pay for itself.

Two things.
Yes an owner should have one in the truck, no excuse for it not to be there, and always make sure you use a good inverter with it.
AND shouldn't this be moved to the owner operator section? -
I'm a company driver and have one. I run Canada and it's helpful to have when I send my DM my export paperwork and to print my ACI to cross. My company also wants us to turn in a B/L from some customers when moving an empty trailer and an actual printed form looks more professional than a hand written one, and I can do it all from my phone. Plus being able to make copies is a real plus. I got the cheapest wireless Cannon all-in-one Wally sells.
