He should have been fired long before the fatal wreck.

One of the consequences for companies that have driver facing cameras, giving the lawyers more ammo to use against them

I’ve not seen a vehicle just run outta gas, stall, and stop immediately. Don’t say if car was in travel lane, probably now a days, but regardless, they’d say he’d be at fault, because he hit the car in the rear, it’s automatically his fault.

I have a couple of times. Came close to hitting one on I-10 in Texas awhile back(broke down F-150 in the granny lane with no lights,4 ways or flares-nothing).
The car the JB Hunt driver hit was a Ford Bronco-one of the new ones!
10 to 1says that the Bronco probably had a mechanical problem or electrical issue-they’ve been PLAGUED with recalls over the past couple of years!

Either way that driver is screwed!

It said they counseled him for taking eyes off the road for five seconds.

Do these companies with driver facing cameras allow drivers to wear sunglasses?

Many companies for this reason are moving to no cell phone use whatsoever for anything. As in turn it off and put it away in the back and forget you even own it while you’re driving. What happens is a pattern. Companies will say OK you can use hands-free devices like Bluetooth or headset. You can listen to a podcast or something like that through the radio. But the phone is there. And some time goes by and the driver decides I can just send a quick text message. Slippery slope Or I can look this up. And as the saying goes, , if you give someone an inch they take a mile. Next thing you know your drivers on the phone all the time. And then something like this happens. The driver was staring down at his phone for an eternity.

Just a typical wheel holder that should’ve been working the fry line. If you can’t concentrate on the road, find another job.

I've been told these newfangled cameras use some sort of AI that can detect your eye movements, even through sunglasses. Don't ask me how it works, but it does.
