I would think local would be better than OTR around there. Outside of beer loads out of Golden, I don’t think there’s a lot of consistent outbound loads. I know when I was OTR, I used to deliver to the Wally World DC in Loveland. I would sometimes sit for a 34-48 hour reset trying to get a backhaul out of that area.

That was around 7-8 years ago.

Any job you can think of that’s top notch is hiring in this area. All the LTL’s are hiring training for a CDL positions OD, Saia, XPO, Estes, etc.. FedEx Freight is close to opening their 2nd colossal terminal being built and looks almost done. UPS is hiring teams. Tankers are offering 32hr to start. Walmart needs 70 drivers. Jobs here is the craziest I’ve seen since I’ve moved out here 12 yrs ago. Yes on the decent side of town an 1 bedroom apt cost 2k a month. A 400k house is 1800-2k a month mortgage. Still a good living making 90k a year. If you have expensive car payments and massive debt might be a struggle.

There are lots of loads out of the denver area
    Purina
    Coors
    Budweiser
    Niagara
    Pepsi
The problem is there is an ocean of inbound freight and huge demand for backhauls so the rates are abysmal

There is lots of local work but the hourly wages are less than I think they should be by a good stretch and only now starting to slowly go up

Yeah, I still got a pickup truck I got foolishly locked into back in 2016. Not sure what it costs to register a 1/2 ton up there, but part of me feels it's not wise to move up unless more debt has been cleared. Once that's out of the way, might look into apartments or housing in a less congested side of town.

I've been back and forth up there over the past, several years. It's getting kind of hard trying to find an apartment or house up there that isn't 2-3 feet away from the other. As far as decent goes, anything that doesn't look totally shot up. The quieter and less livelier the hood, the better.

Apart from the bicycling activities, mining history, and train museums, everything else hyped up about the area(breweries, sports teams, 20-something nightlife) is forgettable.

Only headache about that place is waiting for all the reefers to make a hole so the tankers could get off the scale. Other than that, out and in!!

You can apply at ODFL in fountain,CO which is close to Colorado Springs.

Either there or the Commerce City location(already got an app I submitted there that I haven't checked in on yet). No ODFL linehaul/bag-run positions available in either Lubbock or Amarillo(those two spots are both 90 min away from me and the commute is much less stressful than what I've experienced on the 25).

I work out of Commerce City. Small company. 22 trucks. I’m tired of the BS with companies. We have our problems. But not like others. I may very well make six figures this year.
We have customers we haul out of Denver for. Even if we can’t do a load. We do brokering and broker it out.
The company gets me backhauls to Denver.
There are plenty of driving jobs here. If interested in the Springs. One good little one is True Value Hardware. I delivered there. New nice DC ... 40 minutes in and out.
There does seem to be dedicated. Midwest to Denver. Back and forth all the time. Some Denver to Ca.
