I just finished Premier truck driving school and here is my feedback. The good, its a 10 day program that you take out a loan to pay for and if you work for the company for 12 to 9 months you don't have to pay it back. I was very happy with having completed the program so quickly and not having it drawn out to 4-8 weeks. Once you graduate you simply wait a few days and go to your local dmv and pick up your CDL. I had job offers (calls and emails) before I even finished the program. More likely if you live in a major city. The not so good, its only 10 days. If you have never been in an 18 wheeler before, like me, its very hard to pass the CDL test after only being behind the wheel for 7 days. First couple of days are administrative and lecturing. Half of the people in my class had some type of prior trucking experience. They had far less trouble. Half the people in my class had to take the test twice and those were the people with little to no prior experience. A couple actually gave up and went home without testing. So if you have no trucking experience, ever, and you want to go through this accelerated program, this will surely be one of the hardest things you will ever do in your life. It takes learning quickly as you have to remember almost all the parts of the truck and what they do in a week. It also takes courage and skill. I drove an 18 wheeler on the highway without ever having driven a truck before. By the end I was comfortable with it, but the first day was terrifying. The teachers do genuinely care about your progress, however, they only have 7 of the 10 days to spend with you, because every week they have a brand new batch of students. They also are teaching class B CDL students on top of that! So you have to be self driven and work on your weak spots with your fellow students, helping each other along the way. I had a great group of guys that made it so much easier. So in summary, I would do it again in a heartbeat. But it was one of the hardest and most terrifying things I have ever done in my life. The testers were nitpicking and I am sure I didn't have many points to spare even on my second attempt. The accommodations were terrible, and you have to buy all your meals. But honestly, after class I just crashed anyway, its very exhausting mentally and physically. So the crappy hotel will hardly be a thing. Good luck, and before doing this program gird your loins and be prepared to go balls to the wall for 10 days. Take the CDL test as many times as you have to, as long as you see a path to victory.
