I have narrowed it down to these two, if ur mad that I'm asking about these because you think I didn't do enough research then sorry it's hard to figure out and I'd like some opinions. Other companies like Crete and other good ones don't hire 21 year olds, which I need since I'm 21. I see Prime pays a lot and I think it pays the most for new drivers at least that I have seen. US Xpress was my first instinct to go to but any input would be awesome. Thank you.

Of those two; my first choice would be Prime tanker or flatbed.

US Express is probably a good company, but looking at the big picture and the future earnings, consider tanker and flatbed experience.

Melton Truck Lines hires 21 yr. olds.

Well... if you have to chose,US XPRESS is the lesser of the two evils by far. However this is not saying very much. Honest answer.

These two are in the same category with JB Hunt and Knight. Sorry to be so honest. I know you have to start somewhere and the 1st year is a sacrifice. I started with CRST. My most angelic is SAIA. They start out about $20 hour. Not sure if they hire recent graduates but would be a good future goal after 2 or 3 years.

Yup. At 21 you don't have a lot of options.

I'd say prime - and do not lease. Either way, chin up and put in a good couple of years.

Oh no. Just read two threads on your 2 choices. Ummmm.

    Try Melton.

Years ago, Prime was... having problems. Changes were made. Currently, Prime's turnover rate is among the lowest of all the starter companies. They take driver comfort seriously... all company trucks have APUs. Newer tractors. (Ever see a crappy looking Prime truck?) They pay the highest starting rate. And yes, they do expect their drivers to BE a driver and get their freight moved ON TIME. You sit around in the truck stop BSing and miss your scheduled time, you start getting fewer loads. That's the same with any company...

I almost went with USX, but after seeing their equipment and talking to their drivers, I'm glad I didn't. Now there's talk of them going all team for new hires; no new solo drivers. Sounds like they're chasing CR England now...

We work at US Xpress. If you go here, get on a dedicated account to make good money.

If you go Prime then like Chinatown said...get into their tanker division. Opens a lot of doors to good paying jobs after your year.
