When I went solo in Dec, It was great and was good until April. The it hit the fan I got put up here in the northeast and its been bad. I get a 166 mile run that they will not take for 2 days. Then sit for 2 days for another load and the same thing over again. I have only had one run over 177 miles in weeks and that was to get home for time off. I talk to my FM today and he told me I was doing a great job but if I could not make it the low miles that they could try to get me home if I drop off the truck at a company term. I like the job when I could miles. But Bills need to be paid and at 28 cents a mile you cant pay much. I do not put the blame on USA I want to make that clear. It may just the area that I have been stuck in. But I may have to leave before my year is up.

What are the recruiters telling you on aprox miles? I have talked to a few drivers that are not stuck in the north east and they are down but not as much as me. I talked to one of my old trainers and he way down on team runs. He also told me its been tough getting enough drive hours to get them through training in a timely manner. The only thing I can say its bad for me and can not speak for all 3000 drivers.

Help with Procrastination – Read the Cases!

Procrastination can be what makes the difference between a successful you and a typical you. I mean, we all have stuff to do all the time, and we do things that we hate doing and sometimes we delay the things that we truly dislike hoping that they will take care by themselves. The thing is, once this happens with just about everything in your life, you should really start worrying since procrastination may be knocking on your door. Procrastination is what makes life stressful and annoying, it what takes your free time away, and sends your opportunities out the door. Now you understand why it is so important to stop procrastination at once. Since procrastination presents itself in numerous forms, within this article we shall discuss about some of the most common types of procrastination, and how to overcome them. However, before we start, understand that in order to stop procrastination you have to really want to get ahead, you should want to really have your life organized in a way that will allow you to do the things you need to do and want to do.
    • Dealing with the little things
In order to stop procrastination you have to understand why the little things should be dealt with at the appropriate time. You see, often when we have a huge project, we only take care of that and forget the little chores. The unfortunate part is that even if we forget about them, we still have to do them at one point or another - meaning that these will remain similar to some little irritants that will constantly prick on you. Soon, the little thing you delayed doing in the first place will increase your stress levels, will become bigger than it was due to the short time span remaining, not to mention the rest of the side effects such as goofing off on your big project and so on. The truth is, as soon as you start working on that little thing you realize it was not was bad as you thought it was in the first place. The easy solution for this case is never to leave the little things behind – in order to stop procrastination, it is easier to do the little things before you start the huge project, because after you actually finish them, you can take of whatever is important for you in peace and quiet.
Another way to stop procrastination with these types of situations is by adopting the “Do It Now!” habit – doing it right will add to a sense of righteousness, not to mention that it will improve your morale along the way. Oppressive, useless weight will be lifted from your shoulders, and you will finally be able to focus on the really important things in your life.
I will suggest you really good site which will really boost your self to overcome so called Procrastination

    NC,
I have not put much faith in the recruiter, they will tell you what you want to hear so......I basically took the advise of other drivers I have talked to.

:biggrin_25514:Praise be to those wiley veterans.....

Well since I started this thread, I might as well give the insights to the joys of C1 Indy.......

Where do you begin... oh yeah how about the hotel.....:biggrin_25510:

Prostitutes, pimp fights at 0300 am, Drugs, jail house tatoo parlor and a guy selling foodstamps, 24/7 3 weeks straight.. The room smelled like puke and death. After taking down the police tape and the body was removed, I did my best with some clorox clean up wipes and a yankee candle..as for security it was great, I had to change my keycard 11 times and the lock was replaced twice. AH! home sweet home. Lucky for me I had a car, so I escaped as often as I could, just to get away from all that crap.

Lets get on with the school.

Word of warning... If there is a skeleton in your closet (medical, Financial, legal. Dont go to school.. Watch the ( )

    Week 1... (28 students)

After all the medical, we were in classes all week. Kevin was great, he kept me awake and I actually learned something. The classes ranged from basic eligablility to hazmat. they were very easy. We were required to transfer our out of state licenses to IN, plus you take the general knowledge, air brake and combination vehicle tests at the DMV. Got mine the first day. The only issue was the admin staff coming into the room with a sticky note or a piece of paper. This usually meant bad news..

End of week 1 (16 Students) (school week)

    Week 2...... RANGE (14 Students)

Yes we even had 2 that said bye over the weekend. Range week advice is comfortable shoes and a rain jacket. I logged what felt like 100 miles doing straight line backing, off side and parallel parking. I did log an actual 165 street miles which was great... I started in a truck with 3 other students. by the end of the week I had an instructor all to myself. ALot of standing around and the cones get really blurry after the 75th time of going through the range. One student got dropped by his carrier on the last day of week 2...One tested out and left as a grad!!!!

End of week 2 (12 Students) (School week)

Week 3 CDL Testing...... (10 Students)

We lost 2 over the weekend, one who could not pass the general knowledge test and one that could not get the range down. I got my first shot at the CDL on tuesday... FAILED.. :biggrin_25510:hit a curb..
2nd shot was Wednesday...... FAILED.. :biggrin_25510:too many pull ups on the range..
    3rd shot was thursday...... PASSED.....:biggrin_255:

I was the 3rd to pass the CDL..there were still 8 left at the school when I headed 70 East... I hope they all made it..

So moral of this story is: With the current state of the economy, Trucking is an employers market. If you have done drugs in the last 30-60 days, you will go home. If you use, you dont need to be there. Get yourself checked out before you go, learning you have diabetes on day one has to suck. Criminal history, if you have a felony, you are probably wasting your time. one loss swore he just had a misdemeanor but he was gone as well.

Do some serious soul searching before you go. If you have doubts about the job or lifestyle, you are wasting your time.

Oh by the way, If you select the 0 down option and go past 6 days and get the boot, who do you think pays the 6K tuition? YOU DO........:biggrin_2553:

All in all good school, but be prepared... By day one of week three, they are pushing you towards the door because there is another class right on your heels. So use your off time wisely, PRE TRIP, PRE TRIP, PRE TRIP....

Good luck to all. :biggrin_25520: I gots mine!!!!

Oh yeah I almost forgot. Outside of C1 testing and CDL testing there is an additional test required for USA students, not super hard, more or less an obstacle course.

I didnt have to do it because I switched to Decker 3 days before going to school.

having a felony doesnt necessarily keep you from making it through C1 school.I had a felony on my record when i attended C1 in Fort Worth, also i worked for USA Truck for 17 months with same felony. You just have to be up front about it and also matters what the felony was for and how long ago it occured
