Propane in the truck cab? Hope you have a big life insurance policy. That is a deathwish. Also, look in the rules and regulations. It will tell you that you can NOT have one. It is a flamable gas and you want to put it in your cab. Also, Homeland Security would love to here that one. Propane is NEVER safe in your truck. Think about it...Be safe out there drivers.

Which regulation stipulates against propane on a commercial vehicle? I have seen propane APU's out there with the large BBQ bottles strapped to the rear of the cab of the trucks.

Soon I will be bringing my single burner propane stove and small propane BBQ on the truck, I would like to know if that is illegal.

They said IN the truck, not ON the truck. (Reading, it's a skill.........)

You can put it on the deck, but it may also make it illegal for you to enter tunnels and some restricted areas.

The disposable cylinders like you buy at Wal-Mart have no restrictions, as long as it is for your own use. Once you start hauling them for hire, then the hazmat rules apply.

Personally, though, I wouldn't want to store them in the cab, though if one does start to leak, you'll smell it long before it becomes hazardous.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but you can buy the cup water heaters (12 volt) (not sure their exact name) that immerse into and heat the water to near boiling in a minute or so ... add in some instant coffee, stir and bipity bopity boo you have something that resembles coffee. I personally would never have anything inside the cab that produced a flame, period. I've seen the guys "grilling" outside their truck in the truck stops ... If I want a grilled meal, I'll find an Outback or Longhorn Steakhouse somewhere and eat there. Much cheaper, just as good or better, and no cleanup and no hassle.

i have 2 propane bottles on the truck. with a one burner stove. from walmart.

i do have a one burner stove also. but i need a replacement invertor. apparently 1000 watts isn't enough for a 800 watt stove and it burned out. LOPL.

if i turn the thing on. it sucks the life out of the batteries now.

No restrictions as long as they are not INSIDE the truck or trailer. Just like campers, always outside for safety reasons. Not smart putting it in an enclosed area. Thats like signing your deathwish.

The little one pounders are not illegal, even in California.
