And you call me an a-hole, but . . . I pull in the OK scale on I-40 , hour after sunset, and see him blow by on the big road. I said screw it, and called the scale house and told them what was going on. They said they didn't have anyone, but they'd hand it off to the sheriffs department. I rolled my eyes and said OK. He pulls off at the 19mm, on the shoulder (of which there is little) because his tarp on whatever was on the front was about to fly off into someones windshield. I call the scale back and said "Look I'll make this real easy, here's where he is" and left it with that. I'm getting sick and tired of doing things 99% legal and correct, abiding by the rules and regulations, and paying for the privilege to do so - when there's idiots like this out there. Hope nobody got killed back there tonight.
The things shown at a glance on his SMS barely touches it. If you look at all of the individual inspections almost every one has a weight or dimension violation. The ones that don't list just a "Local/State Law" violation but don't specify. Pretty likely those are also dimension violations. This dude has 2 years of inspections that are nothing but him just straight ignoring any laws and doing whatever he feels like. I'd be lying if I said I never did some bootleg #### but man this guy isn't even trying to do it right. He also has several IFTA violations and back in march this year he got busted twice in 2 weeks for not even having a valid CDL. This is the kind of guy we all talk about when we wonder why rates are down and the industry is so #### right now. He is doing loads for half what most people charge because he has no operating costs since he doesn't seem to pay taxes or pay for permits.
Oversize and overweight loads real cheap because many out there running them illegal so can do it cheaper!
Like @Razororange said - just absolutely couldn't GAF about any form or manner of compliance with any rule/regulation/safety. He's the a-hole that takes the oversize load for peanuts and doesn't even care what permits are, or why they're required. And I'm the guy that gets level 2 roadside in OK on an OS load, and jerked around by NM with a valid permit. Do I have to drag law enforcement kicking and screaming and shove their nose in something this obvious? What a joke. I'm losing faith in the system daily.
From the looks of the tape residue he's had multiple names on the truck. Probably gets cought and just puts another name on it and roll on. Good for you for trying to get law enforcement to do something about this.
