Go with PTL. They are willing to trust you, so make them proud.
If you go with PTL, stay there at least a year. When you do leave, leave on good terms and with a proper 2 week notice; if you don't you probably will not be hired by another company. Also, if you leave, make sure you have a new job secured; if you don't better stay until you do.Last edited: Nov 7, 2012
cuzzin it Thanks this. -
If they are giving you a chance, and you want to drive. Go. And stay away from drugs if any kind.

You've been provided some sage advice. With a drug record you're fortunate to have a company provide you an opportunity. Take it and Godspeed.

Since PTL is willing to work with you,you should go with it.No doubt about it,I would in a heartbeat.

I have been around the industry my who life (form Birth) When I made up my mind to go the way of my forebares I selected company to train under and get my seat time all at the same time. Even though i knew my father was probably rolling over in his grave I chose the crapiest company I could find. Even though I already knew how to drive before I ever got my CDL I did this just for experince. I had a family medical emergency to take care of and so had to leave the Industry I enjoyed so much. Cant say iwas sorry to see crappy company go but it did mess up my experince at the time. I have been out of driving for the near 4 years got a local job pulling flat bed for near to a year and 3/4. got my experince back up still not enuff for a really good company but seems it was good enuff for PTL.
I have heard the same and prbably worse about this company and still Ill give them a shot because in my life time I have learned that there is no bad experince to be gained from any company be it good or bad. Just experince.
Being that your fresh out school looking for experince TAKE THE JOB tuff it out BE SAFE!! No matter what they tell you to do At the end of the day the decisions are yours to make BE SAFE! I know i intend to my self seeing as I go to there for Orintation on wednsday.
Even if you choose not to go with PTL (Im in no way telling you that you should or should not) or some other company simple rules will get you Home and get you paid
Be safe
study the laws like it was king james
REST! if you got to be late to do it REST getting there late is better than not getting there at all.
Follow your good judgment.....if there is a doubt in your mind that you cant do something make a turn or back in to a hole DONT DO IT!
you end up on youtube with some swift driver if ya do it any way!
Im sure you have herd all this before. just thought I would give ya my 2 bits as a person that is experinced and about join the same company.
Your looking for seat time and experince remember that any door that opens will get you that will you lioke it a first probably not will you thank them later for it when you got a nice 5 days week or a home every night driving job you bet you will because you will have paid your due over come your past and full compleated your soberiety! -
Thanks for the advice I have give it a lot of thought and I am going to give they a try and grit me teeth and get the seat time I talked to one of there drivers and he love it there he said that he's getting the miles and making some money and has had no problem with them so far I'll be headed out next week I gotta start some were maybe I'll see on the road. I know it will be tuff on ya at first but once ya get past that whole being the new guy hump and youll know when it will be totaly worth it. -
PTL does a lot on the east cost and a lot of short runs, 500 to 800 miles would be a good day with them. This is info I recived back in 2003. Might be better now ??? Good Luck !!!

OH and i got one more thing to tell ya cause i think i read somewere they have a lease program. I dont know how hard there gonna push it but I know most companys that have a program will push for it. DO NOT repeat DO NOT EVER lease a truck from a company. I have personaly knowlege of this matter as that is exactly what i did with that crappy company mentioned before. check this thread for some very good reasons why not
