I understand that concern. I share it.

At the same time, I have noticed that if I drive carefully in any weather, the Onguard system rarely does anything but beep occasionally.

My feelings toward the system may change over this winter. My truck does warn me when temps go below 37 degrees. The behavior of the Onguard system may change in weather conditions where ice may be present. If I catch the thing trying to kill me, I'll cover the front of the detector unit, which will disable it. It will also disable cruise control, but if the system is doing stupid things in hazardous conditions, I'll deal with having no cruise.

Asi stated in previous post. This system applied the brakes on ice because it detected (falsely) a vehicle in front of me on ice and caused me to slide to the shoulder of the road. There is no way to release the brakes unless you apply fuel. I disconnected the cable to the sensor which disabled the system but the cruse control still functions. A check light is on the dash but I can live with that.

I hated that system, constant system error which meant my cruise quite working, the constant beeping that was telling me there was a failure. I started hitting it and the screen broke, oops! I just told them I tripped and accidentally hit it and it broke, they changed it no questions asked. During winter ice would build up on the sensor and the system would give a constant error beep until I cleaned off the ice. I am so glad I'm with a company now that doesn't use that BS crap.

Maddening. I drove a truck equipped with OnGuard for three weeks and that is exactly what I thought.

Wait till ya get hooked to a new trailer with a roll stability ecm on it .
It will communicate with the truck ecm and cut the fuel and apply the trailer brakes ...all before you see it coming .
I was playing with it tho and no big deal if ya not being stupid .

    Lepton1 and Farmerbob1 Thank this.
