Qualcomm and Rand McNally GPS signal blocked! Please help!

    Something in my rig is blocking the GPS signal on my QC and my Rand McNally but I don't know what it could be. I've rebooted both devices twice and tool the rig into home base in Springfield yesterday to have it checked out. After having the qc checked out at home base it worked fine all day yesterday but not at all this morning. Something inside of the rig is blocking the signal bc when I get out of the rig with my Rand McNally it starts working immediately. I've tried disconnecting my dash cam already as well and I still get nothing. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

    I've actually found that, for the most part, I don't need a GPS or a map, if I can follow road signs. My only issues are getting to the shipper or consignee from the interstate. Road maps don't show surface streets. Other than that. I just write my route down each time and if the GPS goes down I keep rolling.

    Call for directions. I was otr for 2 years. I never used a gps. Got lost 1 time and that was because I was sent to the wrong address by the dispatcher. The comsignee had two warehouses in town and I was sent to the wrong one.

    If I listened to the company gps in my qc, I never would of made it to Atlanta. It kept routing me the wrong way around Knoxville. However, good trip planning and reading signs and I figured it out.

    Well we have a "directions" macro that gives you decent written directions to the shipper and/or consignee. The only issue with those is that its not custom to the direction you're coming from. It MIGHT be right but it might be telling you how to get there from the north but you're coming from the south. So you wouldn't take a left, you'd take a right on Elm Street, but directions tell you to take a left. But if you catch that it says you're coming south on I-245 and you're going north, then you logically reverse that one turn off the interstate and then the directions are right after that once you establish yourself on the first road off the interstate. But blindly following the directions given MIGHT get you more lost than you already were.

    Calling the consignee or shipper is frowned upon where I work. My dispatcher fussed at me the one time he found out I called a shipper/consignee for directions. He said "if you need directions you call us, not our customer." I told him my job is to get this load safely delivered on time and if that means I have to talk to the homeless man on the corner, I will.

    He didn't tell me anything else.

    If it works when you get out of your tractor then it’s the metal plate in your head.

    Seriously though maybe check your cell phone to see if it’s interferring.

    My opinion. There’s no way something is blocking the satellite signal. Data signals for a cell phone can be bad or non existent because of terrain like canyons or mountains. But rarely gps. Can you take your Rand off the charger and walk out of the truck to see if it works?
