Most comes off by pallet jack or if the place will take it off by forklift. If not you pallet jack the whole pallet and don’t touch it. Place it at the dock or door step. Not a picky restaurant manager trying to get you to separate their stuff and do their job. Every once in a blue moon you throw boxes. But nothing compared to Foodservice. P&D guys who never done Foodservice would appreciate their jobs if they ever did Foodservice. There’s BS in p&d but compared to Foodservice it’s no match.

We food guy's get conditioned into thinking what we do is normal. I remember a grocery driver who was a BA telling us at a contract meeting once that everyone at his work laughed at us because we were ramping groceries all day. He was trying to complement us but you could tell everyone was thinking "WTF" ? when he said it. 27 yrs later, I gotta admit it. He was right. I used to think it was a badge of honor to work this hard Now, not so much. Make a living without ruining your body. There's more to life than workLast edited: Apr 22, 2019

Depends on what manner of garbage accounts your company might have. I got one now every monday at a beauty supply store that requires fingerprinting usually 200+ boxes. Usually takes an hour. I don’t know these food guys get any work done.Mike2633, road_runner and Radman Thank this.

Hey, 200 cs per hour is a pretty good rate. We could use a guy like you at Sysco

When I was at Reddaway here the p&d guys complained about a beauty supply store or shop here. They also had to fingerprint the boxes. That’s funny.Mike2633 Thanks this.

I worked Reddaway in Montana. We had an account with Joann's Fabric store (arts and craft store for old people). It was the biggest PITA account imagineable. An entire sealed pupload of boxes ranging anywhere from 6 ounces to about 25 lbs in weight. Literally 750+ loose boxes on a bad day that had to be brought to the back of a trailer and then pushed down a 15 ft roller conveyor belt. They never scheduled extra people for the truck, so it was usually me and an old cashier that had to deal with this crap.
90 - 210 minutes for the delivery on average. The kicker is they would not start unloading you until past 6 PM when they slowed down. So even if I got done with my route at 4 PM, I had to sit there and wait on them to get their crap together . Complete garbage freight and I always ended up coming home at 8-10 PM.
I was making $32/hour thanks to OT kicking in. That is the only thing that kept me sane, although towards the end I usually started punting the boxes from the front to the back .Mike2633, localguy65, speedyk and 2 others Thank this.
