They record all the time, yes. They only store about half of a minute at a time though, constantly recording fresh over previous stuff. The only recordings saved permanently are after an incident or if the driver hits the save button

That may or may not be true. We really have no idea what kind of storage those company installed drivecams have.

The Cobra I had a couple years ago could store about 11 hours (128GB card installed) before it began overwriting the oldest.
It would be both simple and prudent to have enough RAM to stream 30 seconds in real-time footage while enough flash memory to store several hours of past footage.
I never got a straight answer from anyone when I have asked about it, but flash memory is very cheap when installed directly on the motherboard.

And the Cobra could be controlled with a phone app over a wireless connection. Company installed drivecams are connected to the Qualcom (or whatever they use), so they can be controlled as well.

Al qaeda warned me that spy cameras would be everywhere before I joined them.
I've never worked for a company with driver-facing cameras in the trucks.

I can only relate my actual experience, over several years with four different companies that have cameras.

I’d also relate what one of my managers told me, that they looked into paying for monitoring and as he put it, “it ain’t cheap, but our CEO is!”

We covered this year or so back.
Drive in tighty whiteys, stay in them at all time in the truck, while chewing on a cigar, they’ll deactivate it

If you are watching for the lights, you are not watching the road.
If you are watching the road, you would not even notice the lights on the camera.

I do not want to be driving anywhere near you.

Oh yeah, the lights arent up on the camera, theyre down low in a little square box drivers windshield post. You notice them in your field of driving view. If i have to stop fast when a traffic light changes quickly i notice them,or hit a chug hole.

I had one the last company i drive for and it dont bother me . If u dont like it find another company to work for. Some u ppl talking about privacy and what not, well if u look up at the fuel pumps ur on camera, every building u go to has a camera, u are being watched everywhere u go. Its their equipment and they can do what they want. U guys that complain about the cameras , u gonna be wishing u had one when a 4 wheeler runs u off the road and takes ur life or u take their life and u and ur lawyer is trying to prove they were in the wrong. The camera is for you and the companies protection and they are a great thing inmy opinion. I dont have one in this truck but im going to get one soon. Inward facing , outward and down both sides of truck. Its the only way to protect ourselves out here from the ######### who is out here driving and the ambulance chasing lawyers that is trying to hit billion dollar paydays

Sorry, but if you have to change your driving habits because of the lights going off, you are probably an unsafe driver to begin with.
