I've got a driver I'm going to be leasing on to a contract I run.
My questions are solely regarding what percentage rate I should have them at, should I charge a lease trailer fee, what should I cover as far as repairs and maintenance go? And how to charge to lease the truck?

80/20 trailer included.
If he/she ruins tire it’s on them, if general wear & tear(usually not much) you can handle it.

thought you was leasing a driver, meant he had a truck leasing to you.
if he’s buying like a 1099, be something like a 50/50 split after fuel.
means you pretty much both split fuel say $4000 gross- fuel $1100/2 $550/each
$4000-$550 (your part of fuel) $3450x50%
$1750 for that example
That’s if your leasing to sale the truck to him.

Why not just pay your driver on W2 instead of “leasing” them the truck?

So hire him on W2 and pay him 30% of gross. That will still be gooood money and he won’t be making the payments on something that doesn’t have his name on the title. Then when he has his own truck just lease him onto your authority.

Why would you lease him your old truck ?
When the engine blows after he’s been on the road three weeks , whose gonna pay for the repairs ?
You ? or him ?
