I didn't re invent any wheel. It's my preference. What are ALL the great perks that you get at Mercer? I see they take 25%.

Does that include all insurance? Trailer? What does it include besides a little fuel discount, that I get as well, and little cheaper deals on tires? Please enlighten me.

I fully agree, but not every small company runs just cheap broker freight. Being a new company, well, everyone has to start. A guy that runs for Mercer, Landstar, or under his own numbers, if he is going to haul cheap, he will haul cheap reguardless. I don't mind paper work, so for me it's not a headache. Some guys don't want their own numbers because they rather just not deal with paper work, which I understand. Like I said it's all a preference. I just don't know why drivers get all into their panties when someone says they wouldn't drive for landstar, or mercer.

First, don't be afraid of the FB change. It's easy.

I would ask why you would want to use quality? I have no personal experiance with them. And I don't want to steer you away from using the LP way to get into being an OO as it was basicly how I and many others managed to get our trucks to start. However, over time I have learned of other (cheaper) was to start out. Some of them I wish I had tried. Anyway, although I think Quality or any other leasing company is doable I'm not sure now is the time for someone to be making a change like that. Rates are down EVERYWHERE, freight is getting scarcer and times for many are about to get rough. Almost everyday someone starts a thread complaining about low rates. Heck I look at the load board and actually see the lower rates people have been talking about for weeks now. Again I'm not trying to talk you out of it. But unless you are already established and or have some good capital set aside I would advise against it right now. And the fact that you are thinking of quality tells me (and I could be very wrong) that you probably don't have the capital right now that you will need to successfully make the transition to a company like Mercer or LS.

Now I'll sit back and wait to be flamed. Lol

image.jpg I see Mercer is at the top of their page. And reading the page they make it sound like a good deal. Like I said I know nothing about them except the buyout at the end of a new truck lease is like $65k and that seems like a lot of $$$ to this poor kid.

Answer the question, how much of that additional percatage do you actually keep??? Yeah I know but do you? Everyone always yelps about that extra 20 percent like they keep it all, when in reality its very little of that, they are quite a few other perks here but I thought you would know them, you would think someone who sticks his snout in something would know what he is talking about before he opens his yap.

Why so offended? Why not share all your great perks at mercer? At 6 trucks like you say and a gross of min 200k each is $1,200,000... At 25% that's how much??? That's $300k a year minimum that you give up. Thats all I know. So what perks are a year on 6 trucks are you getting for that extra 25%?? School me.

Rotflmao, where do you get i have 6 trucks??, you must have avreading comprehension problem. You seem to not be able to answer the question 5 how much you keep out of that magical 20 percent. But let me go with what you posted, out of your 98.5 per c went after factoring( which shows you have no reserves) you pay liability insurance,Cargo insurance, ,drug test consortium, office expenses etc. Etc. , if done right yo might do an additional 5 per cent above my 70 percent. When its all stripped away, and unless you haul all direct freight if ya factor what the broker gets you aren't even 5 per cent ahead. But. No you a re went keeping 98.5 per cent. Out my 75 per cent I pay 20 bucks bobtail. The liability, cargo, office , drug tests, dot truck inspection, etc. Etc paid by mercer. Frankly your answer proves you really don't know what your talking about, it seems you just joined this forum, your gonna get sent to school

Lmao. When you have trucks leased on to you factoring is great for cash flow. Also % from them covers more than the overhead costs. Like I said everyone has a preference. You said you had 2 trucks and up to 6 leased on. I went calculating based off that many at 25%. YOU still haven't told me what does that 25% save you Besides 96. A gallon the other day in Maryland. Doesn't matter how long I been on a forum. what does that have to do with you paying 25% plus other crap too?? You should join landstar. Extra 7% or whatever and you get a trailer too . Lol . Stay safe out there driver.
