I broker refrigerated freight only, i try to keep my trucks on the road at 2.00 a mile or more but never lower than 1.80 a mile. I dont do ltl, only full loads. Now i know there are alot of factors that go into each load, my question for ya'll is do you feel like those rates are fair to the driver? Also, with all the cali rules i have noticed alot of people wont run into cali, as well as i have noticed alot of people do not want to go to the east coast. I bid on a bunch of lanes running from cali-florida. I added enough mileage to cover a dead head to georgia for them to find a backhaul because it seems that florida dont have alot to offer right now. I bid it at 2.80 per mile to the driver. What are your thoughts on that if you dont mind.

I just want to be fair to everyone, thats why i ask these questions. Brokers have a bad name but i will not make a bad name for me and my company. So i want to make sure i am doing things correctly.

My opinion is $2.00/mile is not enough. I would say somewhere in the $3.00- $3.50/mile would be about right. Im sure the big reefer companies are getting at least $3.00/mile. Thats just my opinion. I might not even be in the ballpark with those numbers.

O/O has to spend a lot of money to be CARB compliant to run Cali.
