The op posted hot and heavy for less than an hour, and hasn't logged in again since.

Everyone arguing since Monday has had their argument fall on deaf ears, and he did come back and say he was working for Danny Hermann Trucking, not Knight, and only left the load at that lot because DHT rented some space there.

I would close this thread just for the fact that the person being beat up here is not here anymore, but there are others now invested in this urination contest.
All have valid points, but also haven't considered from walking in another's shoes, that those others do, too.

I agree 500 pounds is not that much. What I always did was try to put that weight on my tractor because in about 300 to 400 miles I would burn that 500 pounds up in fuel. For me depending on my location and states I would be crossing I would only go back if load was 1000 over gross or any tandem and I could not fix it.

Just a quick question. How much does CAT charge now for a weigh? Reweigh?

I can assure you this is DHT philosophy as well. Fuel up a couple extra times if needed. ( I sure as hell would have been down the road.)

Well i had on a quarter of a tank of fuel. I was going to run it they said to. But when i called back i ask them to send me a message to run it on the QC and if i get a ticket they will pay that's when they said don't roll. Anyways looks like this worked out for the best ;)

500 lbs isn't too much depending on how much fuel you have on but not having a sliding 5th wheel will definitely get you into a fix if a shipper loads one half way stupid to where the trailer tandems can't be adjusted enough to compensate.

Unfortunately a lot of carriers in an attempt to save fairings etc disable those 5th wheel slides. I saw a driver tear off a right fairing Feb in Norfolk. He panicked and would not listen to me. Finally just ripped off that fairing and got a ticket. The kid looked to be maybe 21 or 22. Not listening to me not trusting me. Now he can tell his safety dept why he got full of stupid in Norfolk.
