well there goes THAT idea for me! lol I live in NC.....line haul is looking more and more my thing. Thank you.
-
you proved a VERY VALID point here.....sometimes, it's not how much you make, but wheater you enjoy your job or not. Some people make 90K a year and absolutely HATE their job.
-
That's pretty good. Although your net pay is not that impressive, if you really look into the numbers, you are contributing a substantial amount to your 401k so I'd say that's not a bad deal. Insurance rate seems to be standard for a single person, but you could still bring home $800 with family insurance, so it seems. Good job, driver!

i will only make 68 this year but the company pays health benefits
and i get 48 off every weekskinnytrucker Thanks this. -
by the time you drive 300-500 miles, work the dock a few hours, drive home, eat and sleep you don't have time to take a shower anyway
-
I would be close, but I take a unpaid week off every month. I will be closer to $55,000
Work for a mom and pop, so I pay health insurance out of pocket...they offer it but i can get it cheaper on my own and better coverage...and still losing $3000 there is better, for now, than the mind games and dog and pony show politics of dealing with a mega or bottom feeder outfit.
But, I ain't getting younger, and Insurance ain't getting cheaper...
I may be making a switch this next summer, Have a couple local things in mind, if that doesn't pan out I may shoot for Ashley Furniture or Wal-Mart.Last edited: Oct 18, 2015

*hand up* I drive for serta.seems the money is in private fleets
Pintlehook, loose_leafs and Weeble Kneeble Thank this. -
I guess I'll throw my hand up, too.
Going into my second year hauling fuel. Haven't hit the top of the pay scale yet, either. Roughly 55 hours a week, more in the summer. Home every night unless they ask if I want an overnight run. I live 7 miles from the office so commute isn't an issue. Bust my you know what in the summer, 4 day work weeks every other week in the winter. Paid Bennie's for driver, and 4.6 hours of PTO every paycheck.
I'm content for the moment.
