Is this how RM supports it's customers? "I've already answered that question so go search for it"?

I do these threads on my own and I am busy most of the time... so it cuts back on time that I could be assisting others...
thanks,

Decent databases on travel centers etc...
How about adding databases of truck tire dealers and engine dealers both in seperate headings, like with the major truck stop chains and Walmart?Mark Kling Thanks this. -
Ok if I take you up on that offer as well DieselBoss? I'm going to be getting either the 500 or 700 here in a couple/few weeks when I get my own truck. Would really appreciate it.

It's true those who own the Rand McNally have a valuable source right here on the forum for help with this product. I bought the 5 inch several months ago and tried to download a huge 2.4 Gb update on it using a truck stop's wireless network but somehow the 5 inch crashed. I was at wit's end. Searched around on here and posted my concerns (after shelling out another $400 for a new 5 inch) and Mark mailed a new SD card to my home. I didn't expect much but after I plugged it into the slot the thing fired right up! Did I mention the card and fix were all FREE? Now I have two 5 inchers lol I think I will keep the extra one as a backup though....

Just ordered a 500 through Don this evening as well. Was going to go with the Garmin because my previous one from them lasted so long. However the RM seems like a better deal all the way around. Besides, tech support is here, not a call center around the globe.
Dieselboss Thanks this. -
We purchased the TND 500 last year, was/is great. Ran into a software problem on the last update, spent days arguing with their tech dept. in a nutshell the GPS got sent( bubble wrapped, insured, and sent to their repair facility) in KY. It was shipped back yesterday, taking it out today. Up to this point it was really nice, has some features other GPS units we tried out didn't.
Like Big Don said though, It does not replace your eyes, or ears. They all have their good points/bad ones. We personally like this one, we wired it into our system so it doesn't sit glued to windshieldMark Kling Thanks this. -
anytime you have an issue feel free to contact me.
thanks,

HI,
Well we got someone else's failed unit back, not in as good shape as ours was, there are definate wear/paint marks on the one we got back ( we took photographs of ours and enclosed them with the GPS we returned, along with a photgraph of the serial #). Rather disappointed as we were told we
would get a brand new one back because we had one of the original units and the hardware would not accept the new software, so the used replacement we got is already failing as I turned it on yesterday and already it has connectivity issues, and I am afraid to download any new updates, how are we supposed to even remotely depend on this?Mark Kling Thanks this.
