Your welcome Mark, the TND software was only loading about halfway and then freezing up but with the work I did today it is loading up very fast every time. Now I am just waiting for the next update to see what is new and what improvements have been made.
Just a note to all the other RM TND owners, keep sending in corrections and ideas to to RM. We will have the most powerful and accurate GPS on the market very soon with everybody's help.

Mark

Susan, this thread is about the Rand McNally TND 500.
a via point is an interm point in a route.... you route from a to b...but then you wish to add a.5
or if the unit does not give you the route you want you add other points in the route to force the unit to take the route you want. if it routes you on I40,but you want I80.. you add points on I 80 to force the unit to reroute you on I80.
Thanks,
Mark -
I hope RM gives some serious consideration to adding "VIAs" to the multi stop routing capabilities of this device. While the abilitly to add many stops is nice the stops are also irritating. As i understand it having routed 2 routes with that option it forces the RM to route the way you want but it treats each stop as a destination so from the navigation screen you are only seeing the miles to the next stop not the big picture of the whole route.
Mark, is there a way to click on the tell RM and then edit the needed correction or information from the laptop before sending? Would make it much safer than trying to type an explanation while driving. 5 times in the past 800 miles i have had issues with the unit either freezing up or being incapable of performing a simple reroute. ie: i exited to the east bound Odessa Mo scale and the system did a recalculation that included me getting off at the next exit, when i bypassed the next exit it tried another calculation then notified me there was no available legal truck route. I simply redid the routing to Arcadia Fl, and it once again routed me no problem. I had the same issue after I stopped to Fuel up at the Flying J in Warrenton Mo. and was headed back to the interstate. From the J the unit was advising me correctly on how to get back on route however at the stop sign prior to the on ramp it tried its calculation and again advised me of no legal truck route. -
Not of as of yet... I will forward to RM,,,that is a good idea...
make sure your unit is on version 1392.
main screen/preferences/device settings/about.
If you find a road or ramp that is like that then let RM know. They have found some mapping data that was incorrect in how that road or ramp was set for truck routing.
also in your Tell Rand notes,,include state/road/dir/exit or mm... this will help them narrow the problem down.
And if you are on 1392, I would need to talk to you futher about your unit. rmleadbetatester at gmail dot com.
11/12/09 - I will be in SC stopping at the Pilots...home around 7pm est
Thanks,
Mark -
Mark,
I also have been having the lockup problem when going into truckstops or rest areas
comes up with "routing problem" or can't find a legal route so we either have to shut the system off and reboot or redo the route to get it back on track
and I am on the latest release 1392
