My Garmin can't find the address, when you find it and tap on the spot, it navigates there. Has a habit of telling you that the road is restricted, it is lined with docks.

I use copilot as my main backup option to my RM. The one area where I really prefer RM, and I don’t even see this on CP, is the ability to “look ahead” on the fly to see Rest Areas or Truck Stops or other options like a Walmart and see how far down the road it is for times when I’m looking for a place to take a 30 or parking for the night or just use the facilities.

CP is pretty good at getting you from A to B using Truck Routes, but falls a bit flat beyond that… and that’s where I really appreciate RM each day and several times per day too.

but ya, I like that it resides on my iPhone and iPad as you mentioned.

How did you like the RM 8 2.0? Is the improved navigation better?

Didn't notice a difference from the 8 at all tbh. Ran it for just under 30 days and exchanged it for the garmin otr800.

I don't know about the 740 but I recently retire the old 520 and purchased the 750 and 4 month later I hate it.
    Incomplete truck stop directory...
Incomplete POI like missing a Grocery store like Meijer for example
-When searching for a POI around destination it will show distance from you current location, not from the destination address..
-no zip code search, if fact they don't use z code at all, instead it show the coordinates, that works great when taken the plane or sailboat ...
-full keyboard impossible to operate when truck is in motion, even for a passenger
-in the old 520 you could tap a point in the map and will show distance to it, not on the 750. that was a very useful feature when coming from back road and want to know the distance to the interstate.

This are few of the thing I miss from the old one...I seems like the 750 was developed on the back seat of a ricksaw in a far away land... even the voice is weird

I was thinking of getting the Garming, now I don't know...
    Maybe the hammer will work

I would not purchase any technology products with a RM name or logo on it. The company was sold again not to long ago. Some private equity operation. When that sort of thing happens, no telling what is in the near future.

These private equity firms are nothing but vultures. They buy struggling companies, run them straight under, liquidate them out of business and take off with the money.

I use TDP, it’s a black app icon on the store. It has everything trucker path has but it’s better in my opinion. You can completely customize it, provides weather, low clearances, the works.you can add your axle weight, gross weight and it’ll navigate routes that are restricted if necessary. I personally like it. It’ll also give you your averages at the end of the run. Tell you approximately 1-11 hours will be upon your trip, etc… check it out

it’s saved my bacon lots of times.

I also use Waze for driver reports for the smokeys and traffic jams as well. Four wheelers don’t want tickets and neither do i ;)

No need to buy an $800 gps when I have a $1500 phone that does everything for free

I still use my RM think it’s a 740. You just got to double check the routing. Usually I set it to “prefer freeways” to make sure it avoids any unneeded crazy country backroads routing but I’ll sometimes set it to just “avoid small roads” if I know the backroads will save me a substantial time. In the end you’re the captain not the gps it’s up to you to determine if you’re taking the right route.
