I know when I was in school, and I know when I am on the road, I will love to hear some nice, encouragement, thankfully I have made a small network of friends that will give this.

I wanted to start a thread, with this premise:

Give the encouragement that you have longed to hear on the road, but for some reason never heard.

No negativity. Enjoy noobs and vets alike. Ill start:

"I know that backing is very hard, but eventually you will get it. It will all click into place for you."

"You will make it, take your time, breathe, and just do it, you already know how. Your full of panic for no reason."

If the snowstorm is starting to make you nervous, find a safe spot NOW.

Oddly appropriate here in Seattle region tonight... 4" of sticking snow and the county has no idea on how to handle it.

Yeah that weather is killing everybody here in the Northwest. We got kicked out of school at lunch because they thought putting us behind the wheel would probably get us or someone else killed.

As for words of encouragment for any newbies like myself
" Don't over think things and go with your gut. If your gonna get into this industry do it 100% or not at all"

This was not the intended purpose of the thread :(

This is ment for sharing words of encouragement that people may need to hear at a random time. If someone is feeling down and needing encouragement they can find little snippets others wishes they had heard at times.

But eh, I didnt think this one would take off :p

If this is your first year driving and you already feel like quitting, then don't. Think about why you wanted to drive in the first place. Do you see all of those other trucks drivers on the road? They all had to start somewhere, just like you. If everyone had the quitting mentality before their 1st year was over there wouldn't be that many trucks on the road.

So cheer up! Everything gets better after a year, and before you know it, you're gonna have all sorts of cool stories to tell your friends and families. Take the good, accept the bad, and just deal with bad situations. They will only make you 'stronger'. And no shortcuts! Get out and look when you back. It will save you an embarrassing phone call with your safety department.

    Lastly, keep on trucking!

    (umm, how's that?)

When your driving whether your in school or whatever check the crap out of your mirrors and always be aware of the 4 wheelers especially when your turning. When i was in school i was making a left turn at a 4 way stop as i was turning a jerk in a pickup pulled up to the stop line while i was in my turn and almost took out the corner of his truck and all he could do was look at me like stupid trucker my instructor was so pissed at the guy but all we did was joke about it just keep in mind.

Communication is the driving force in this industry. Are you going to be late? Call your dispatcher. Need to be home at a specific date? Bug your dispatcher! The squeaky wheel gets the grease so to speak. You can have an excellent relationship with your dispatcher as long as you communicate, communicate, communicate!

You just got fired, and you feel like it's the end of the world. Don't ever feel that way under any circumstance. When there's hope, there's a way. It's all up to -you- to get out there and get what you want in life. When you do find your next driving job, be honest as hell with the h.r./recruiter. The truth will take you on a good path. Lies will only get yourself dug deeper into a hole of despair. Play by the rules, and you will never have problems.
